(senior) Accountant

SMART Photonics is a fast‑moving, innovative photonics foundry pioneering the future of integrated photonic technology. We enable customers to turn complex photonic circuit designs into real products that power cutting‑edge applications in telecom/datacom, medical sensing, automotive/LiDAR, quantum technologies, and beyond.

As we scale towards volume production, our Finance team plays a pivotal role in driving operational excellence, improving processes at speed, and preparing the company for exceptional growth.

We are now seeking a Senior Accountant who is strategic, communicative, and operationally excellent to support this transformation.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will take ownership of operational accounting, ensure timely and accurate reporting, support key financial projects, and partner across functions to uphold compliance with internal policies and grant regulations. Your work directly influences business decisions and company performance.

Key Responsibilities:

·        Lead month‑end and year‑end closing activities and external financial reporting.

·        Provide clear, concise reporting to internal and external stakeholders, direct report to the Chief Accountant.

·        Lead in Accounts payable process, designing and implementing process improvements.

·        Maintain strong internal controls, support audits, and prepare account reconciliations with follow‑up on findings.

·        Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support financial and accounting needs.

·        Support with technical memorandums for accounting topics, under IFRS.

·        Manage VAT submissions, Intrastat, and intracommunity reporting.

·        Support continuous improvement initiatives to elevate finance processes to world‑class standards.

Who You Are

We’re looking for someone with deep accounting experience who can communicate confidently and clearly with both financial and non‑financial stakeholders and thrive in a high‑pace, cross‑disciplinary environment.

·        Master’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Economics.

·        +3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a commercial or semiconductor/technology organization.

·        Strong communication skills, able to explain financial concepts clearly and collaborate with diverse teams.

·        Fluent English (written and spoken); Dutch is a plus.

·        Solid knowledge of IFRS.

·        Sharp attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a proactive mindset.

·        Ability to organize, prioritize, and deliver in a rapidly changing environment.
