Senior CAPEX Buyer (Temporary position)

At SMART Photonics, we are scaling our production capacity to meet global demand. We are looking for an experienced procurement professional to support us in securing the equipment that powers our production. We offer the chance to work in a leading European photonics company and collaborate with world-leading Semiconductor OEM suppliers. In this role, you lead the procurement process from the definition of requirements through to the on-time delivery of the equipment.

You will be reporting to our Supply Chain Manager, and working in the Supply Chain team. This is a temporary role of 4/6 months, and can be done full-time or part-time (minimum 3 days per week in the office).

Key responsibilities:

• Supplier Communication & Collaboration: As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you take the lead in supplier communication. You facilitate collaboration and ensure all necessary NDAs are in place.

• Stakeholder management: You bridge the gap between technical engineering needs and commercial reality, ensuring that User Requirement Specifications (URS) are clear and supplier-ready.

• Sourcing: You lead the process of soliciting and managing proposals from suppliers (RFP/RFQ).

• Supplier Selection: You support the establishment of objective selection criteria and the evaluation of supplier proposals within a multi-disciplinary team.

• Negotiations: You lead commercial discussions with suppliers regarding pricing, lead times, and delivery terms.

• Contracting: You lead the contracting process, from initial template to final signature.

• Proven experience (5+ years) in procurement or supply chain within a semiconductor or high-tech environment.

• Strong Communication: Ability to clearly communicate complex content in English to both internal stakeholders and suppliers.

• CAPEX Expertise: Direct experience with buying Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) equipment and leading high-stakes commercial discussions.

• Scale-up Mindset: Ability to navigate a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment 

• Able to "hit the ground running" from day one!
