Manager Test, Measurement and Reliability (TMR)
We are looking for a decisive, resilient, and technically strong leader to head our TM&R department. This team plays a crucial role in ensuring our photonic devices meet the highest quality, reliability, and performance standards. You will guide a diverse group of engineers through the technical and organizational challenges of a rapidly growing foundry, while managing the expectations of demanding internal and external stakeholders.

This role demands more than technical expertise! You will need sharp managerial instincts, the courage to stand your ground under pressure, and the ability to foster a culture of accountability, process discipline, and continuous improvement.

 

What You Will Do

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 13 engineers & technicians, fostering professional growth, technical excellence, and mature collaboration.

  • Establish clear goals, standardized processes, and automated workflows to position TM&R as a trusted, proactive partner for our internal stakeholders, such as: R&D, Operations, and Commerce.

  • Balance urgent customer demands, R&D requirements, on chip measurements and long-term strategic objectives without compromising quality or reliability.

  • Bring industry best practices into the team, leveraging your foundry experience to mature our capabilities and mindset.

  • Drive and support large CAPEX projects, ensuring tool selection, vendor engagement, and integration meet Tier 1 standards.

  • Collaborate closely with leadership to align TM&R priorities with SMART Photonics’ vision, cost targets, and strategic roadmap.

  • Act as the bridge between technical depth and business sensitivity, knowing when to push back and when to accelerate.

Job requirements

  • Proven managerial track record in a complex, high-pressure technology environment.

  • Strong leadership presence, with the ability to unify, motivate, and guide a diverse team in a multicultural environment, thriving in a direct, open, and collaborative communication culture.

  • Foundry knowledge and experience are a must ideally with a TM&R background in InP, GaN, GaAs or silicon photonics.

  • Deep understanding of maturing products, processes, and measurement/reliability tools.

  • Experience managing large CAPEX projects and vendor negotiations.

  • Skilled at balancing short-term delivery with long-term capability building.

  • Excellent communication skills. Clear, respectful, and able to handle high-intensity discussions with confidence.
