SMART Photonics is a rapidly growing, ambitious open foundry on InP Photonics. We have the world leading ability to monolithically integrate passive (waveguide, MMI, DWDM) and active (lasers, RF modulators, detectors) functionalities on a single substrate. Furthermore, we are unique in offering our customers a Process Design Kit (PDK) which allows them to design complex photonic circuits. Our customers come from a range of market sectors, including telecom/datacom, medical sensing, automotive/lidar and quantum technologies.
Smart Photonics is looking for an experienced manager from a wafer factory or very close related field. To guide the process engineering team on their journey to process excellence.
We are recruiting a Cluster Lead Process Engineering – Litho and Epitaxy
Job description
As cluster lead you are responsible for both the lithography and epitaxy process clusters and their teams. You secure a smooth roadmap and vision with regards to developing, optimizing and managing the fabrication processes used to create photonic devices, such as lasers, optical amplifiers, and photonic integrated circuits. The goal is to ensure that our processes are efficient, cost-effective, and produce high-quality products that meet our customer specifications.
You report to the VP Engineering.
Daily tasks:
ü Define a roadmap with short- and Long-term goals, aligned with company mission and vision to secure TIER 1 foundry goals.
ü Align and cooperate with the other Cluster Managers (2), as well as other departments to establish solid development and integration of our new technology.
ü Represent your clusters during management meeting and presentations. Offering both in depth technical knowledge as well as strategical overview.
ü Coach and manage the teams, with a focus on people management skills and a positive working environment.
ü Secure the teams provides efficient response and prioritize on troubleshooting or other issues. Balance the workload for the team.
ü Analyzing and improving existing processes, including control systems, to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
ü Has a profound knowledge of wafer manufacturing process to tackle day to day challenges in a professional matter.

Job requirements
We are looking for a person who has/is
ü A master’s degree in the field of Physical Chemistry, or similar.
ü + 10 years of Experience in a foundry, wafer fab or very close related semiconductor industry
ü Leadership experience of an engineering team, in a diverse and multicultural team.
ü A good understanding of various processes used in the fabrication of semiconductor integrated circuits.
ü Proven drive of operational excellence aligned with company vision.
ü Experienced with process improvement and statistical tools like FMEA, SPC, DoE.
ü A natural drive to take ownership to get the job done, stay focused and be pro-active. And the skills to develop the team towards recognized owners of metal and back-end process.
ü This is an onsite position, available to be onsite at least 90% of the time.
